19 of the Russian's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard surfaces
A resurgent Medvedev claimed his initial championship for over two years with victory over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.
The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging season, achieving just a single victory at the major tournaments and experiencing a meltdown at the New York tournament.
Medvedev's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his service game in particular - caused him exiting of the top ten and ultimately splitting with long-term trainer Gilles Cervara.
Currently training with his coach and his other coach, he has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - peaking in a tightly fought three-set victory over challenger Corentin Moutet.
This represents the player's maiden trophy after the Rome competition and first on a hard court since March of that year.
The win also signifies Medvedev has won twenty-one championships at twenty-one various competitions.
"For the first time I'm at a event with my two daughters at once, so to get a championship is really nice," commented tennis professional the champion.
"This championship is in tribute of my second daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter her name was delivered was for her."
The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his past six title deciders, featuring in the German tournament earlier this year.
His defensive approach and frequent emotional displays on the playing surface had prompted some to wonder if his skill to play at the top level was over.
Yet the 29-year-old has made changes in the past month, attempting to advance forward and perform positively, reinforced by an improved serving game.
The champion fought back from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, securing 4 of the last five points to go ahead.
The pair exchanged break points in the middle set before the challenger, striving for his initial ATP Tour championship, seized the initiative to push for a final set.
Moutet rescued four early break points in a competitive final set before the champion secured a break to fifteen to serve for the match.
Appropriately, he earned the title with a point at the net area, with Moutet incapable to manage a shot after a lengthy match.
